Shurgard Signs A New Purchase Agreement In The Netherlands

Shurgard, the largest developer, owner, and operator of self-storage centers in Europe – is purchasing a building located northeast of Utrecht province (The Netherlands).

This new deal comes shortly after Shurgard secured a long-term lease agreement in the Amsterdam area and further highlights the Company’s expansion plan in the market.

The future c. 3,100 sqm self-storage property is set to open in 2023 and will offer approximately 450 self-storage units to the area. It will also complement nicely one of our stores in the direct vicinity of that new property.

Shurgard is pleased to update and share its development pipeline in the Netherlands as follows:

  • Rotterdam Capelle – long leasehold – c. 4,400 Sqm and set to open by the end of 2022
  • Rotterdam Spijkenisse – freehold – c. 1,900 Sqm and set to open by end of 2022
  • Amsterdam Region project – long leasehold – c. 4,000 Sqm (opening in 2023)
  • Utrecht Region project – freehold – c. 3,100 Sqm (opening in 2023)

Shurgard currently offers self-storage solutions in 61 properties in the Netherlands and holds the largest market share in that market.
