Last year Twenty4 Secure Storage, which operates a large self-storage site in Leeds, submitted a planning application for a similar site in Bradford, on Factory Street, off Tong Street.

The development would have seen numerous shipping containers installed on the site for self-storage purposes, as well as a section of land used as open storage.

The site was once home to Ackroyd’s Mill, which was demolished after being damaged in a huge blaze in 2011.

Highways officers raised concerns about the plans, and the application was withdrawn.

Now the company has submitted amended plans for a “secure self-storage facility and open B8 storage including reception/office”.

The new application says 10 shipping containers would initially be based at the site, and argues that a redesign of the plans should overcome any highway concerns that were previously raised.

It adds: “The development of the site will make effective use of Brownfield Land which is currently underutilised and derelict.

The application seeks to provide an additional employment facility within Bradford which would aid the economic development of the city and provide an ancillary facility for local businesses and residents.”
