A garden machinery shop that closed after 82 years because of lockdown pressures has transformed into a demolition site. Handy Garden Machinery was long established on Hobley Drive in Stratton, opposite Aldi, but was forced to shut in 2020 because it was not economically viable for the owners to continue with the lockdowns. UP to 30 new jobs are set to be created on a business park on the outskirts of Wellington. Work has started on the Block 5Z warehouse and storage facility at the Westpark26 development. Squab Group has invested in the new self-storage facility on the final remaining plot at Birmingham Great Park, Hollymoor Way in Rubery. The UK-based Container Self-Storage and Traders Association (CSTA) has published its first census on activity in the self-storage industry. Focused on the UK, the report revealed that at the end of 2021 some 572 companies were active across what the CSTA described as 978 “properly defined and/or dedicated sites”. Newport-based self-storage specialist ‘Storage Giant’ says it is on course to double in size during the next two years, having grown its occupancy rates during the coronavirus pandemic.
