Plaza Collection Plans to Convert Car Dealership to Fashion HQ, Self-Storage in Salford, England

Bury New Road, Plaza Collection, p planning docs

Fashion retailer Plaza Collection has submitted an application to redevelop a former Lookers showroom on Bury New Road.

The £7m plans are in two parts: an infill structure to connect the two former showroom buildings that currently occupy the 1.4-acre site and a standalone five-storey self-storage scheme.

Plaza Collection, which has been trading since the 1980s, is currently based on Broughton Street in nearby Cheetham Hill.

The linked former showrooms will be used by Plaza Collection as its new headquarters.

The building would provide 23,200 sq ft of accommodation and feature warehouse space, offices, and a photography studio.

The sel- storage building would deliver 58,000 sq ft of accommodation.

The principle for redevelopment on the site already exists to an extent. Before selling the site, Lookers was granted approval to join the two showrooms together via an infill. However, the standalone five-storey element that features in Plaza’s plans did not feature in Lookers’ proposals.
