Plans for a storage facility in the Abbotsinch area of Paisley have been submitted to Renfrewshire Council.
North Star Storage wants to introduce a facility with steel containers and an office at Glasgow Airport Business Park.
A planning application has been put in for a location, which is bordered by Inchinnan Road and Marchburn Drive. A statement, prepared by agent company Zander Planning, said the proposal would involve the reuse of a brownfield site.
It explained: “Planning permission is sought for the use of the site as a class six self-storage facility and the installation of steel containers, associated office accommodation, fencing, lighting and other associated works.
“It is proposed the site will operate 24 hours, seven days a week. “The proposal involves the installation of 20ft steel containers and 10ft steel containers for self-storage use.
“The containers will be green. These are arranged with vehicular access running through the site. “A site office will be located close to the entrance.”
Data has shown self-storage is a “low traffic business”, according to the statement, with 75 percent of customers visiting less than once a month and just seven percent doing so more than once a week.
The council has not yet made a decision on the application.
