Cuboid is Set to Open a Self Storage Facility at Winnington Business Park in Northwich [Cheshire, England]

Cuboid, the spin-out of Chorley-based property group FI Real Estate Management (FIREM), is set to open a 14,120 sq ft internal self-storage unit at Winnington Business Park in Northwich.

The 216-room unit marks a first for the brand, as it continues to grow its 150,000 sq ft portfolio, and diversify its offer. The news comes just after the company launched the pilot of its ‘Business in a Box’ product, a customisable, two-storey container office and storage space for start-ups, as part of Cuboid’s growth journey.

The unit at Winnington Business Park will offer a fully automated access control system, with 24/7 heightened security from more than 60 internal CCTV cameras, as well as external surveillance.

The self-storage offer will be designed to suit a range of domestic uses, including house moves, students, travelling and storing equipment for sports and hobbies.

The decision to launch the first internal self-storage unit at Winnington Business Park was driven by demand in the area.

As part of the Cheshire West & Chester local plan in 2023, Northwich was earmarked for a large scale regeneration project, facilitating the construction of more than 1,500 new homes – a target that is only set to grow under the Labour Government’s new housing drive.

At present, there is a lack of self-storage facilities in the area to meet the needs of the community, says Cuboid.

The units are set to launch to the public in Q2 2025, with plans to create further internal units across the country already under way.

The development will be delivered by the company’s internal construction arm, FI Construction.

Tim Knowles, Managing Director and founder of FI Real Estate Management, said: “Our ethos at Cuboid is to always be growing, innovating and adapting to the needs of the market, and we’re delighted to be taking our first step into the world of internal self-storage.

We’ve been confidently providing container self-storage across our portfolio for over a year now, and we’re adept at knowing what our customers need, so this is a natural progression.

As the Government continues to push local authorities to deliver new housing, it’s inevitable that more storage will be needed, so we look forward to continuing to grow our portfolio, supporting communities around the UK.”
