Council Approves Proposed Refurbishment of Self-Storage Site in Twerton, Bath [England]

Plans to refurbish a self-storage site in the Twerton area of Bath have been approved.

Safestore, based at Bellotts House at Bellotts Road, applied to Bath & North East Somerset Council for planning permission to make changes to the building and yard.

It said that due to its ongoing success, it needs to update and refurbish the facility. There will be a new bi-fold gate, pedestrian access gate and 2.4-metre-high fencing.

Safestore says the relocation of the existing security gate will prevent waiting vehicles from blocking the road, creating a safer and more accessible environment for visitors and people living nearby.

Twelve car parking spaces will be formally laid out, two with EV charging and one a disabled-compliant space. The scheme also includes an extra loading bay.

The refurbishment of the building itself includes a new enlarged reception area next to staff facilities. There will be two new access stairs internally and the storage facility on the first floor will be extended into the space formerly occupied by offices.

New glazing and signs are also proposed. The size of the building itself will remain unaltered.
