An American storage company could be the next business to join the ever-growing Broadland Gate business park in the city’s outskirts.

The US-based company, 1784 Holdings, develops, constructs and specialises in self-storage facilities.

In a planning statement submitted to Broadland District Council (BDC), the company said it is “expanding its portfolio by seeking new development opportunities across the UK”.

The application is for the construction of a 24,983sqft self-storage unit with added parking and access at Broadland Gate, alongside the A47 at Postwick.

The proposed site will be located near McDonald’s and Lidl, on land alongside the roundabout where Poppy Way meets Broadland Way, next to Broadlands Lodge Care Home.

Part of the proposal also includes 28 cycle spaces, with an additional 14 car parking spaces – with two electric vehicle charging spaces and one accessible space.

The application also states: “The proposals would seek to utilise the existing hammerhead junction, at the western end of Keswick Way, for vehicle access to the site.

“A safe crossing point will be provided across the access to ensure that the existing cycle link continues.”

An internal target date for a decision on the plans has been set for February 28 by BDC.
