A growing self-storage firm looking to expand into Cheshire has taken over one of its competitors, acquiring its three sites.

Fresh from opening its first county site in Nat Lane, Winsford, Lock Stock Self Storage has announced its acquisition of storage provider U Lock It.

As part of the deal, Lock Stock will now take control of the three U Lock It sites in Cheshire, at Lostock Gralam, Wincham, and Runcorn.

Now, after adding to its growing network in the region, Lock Stock has more than 5,000 storage units across 31 sites in the UK.

“This is a significant investment for us and something we’re really pleased to have now completed,” said operations manager Mike Trow.

“We’ve worked with U Lock It over the last few months to ensure a smooth transition for customers and everything is now in place as we take over the three new sites.

“Those arriving at the sites will notice changes to signage and branding over the next few weeks, but what won’t change is the excellent service provided to them previously – we’ll only work to enhance their experience.”

This latest announcement comes as Lock Stock looks to open 10 new sites before 2026, with the Winsford opening and acquisition of the three U Lock It sites marking four towards that target.

Lock Stock Self Storage began operating in 2000, with its first site in Denbigh, north Wales, and celebrates 25 years of business this year.

A Lock Stock spokesman added: “Lock Stock would like to thank U Lock It for its co-operation during the purchasing phase and handover period of the acquisition.

“We look forward immensely to serving the people of Runcorn, Lostock Gralam, and Wincham.”
